Patricia Pope

In the last five years, Patrica Pope began a more direct process Batik/Silk Painting. Silk paintings are created on white silk. The dyes are painted onto the stretched surface of the silk . The dyes flow into the fiber and bond with the proteins, becoming a part of the silk thread. In order for the colors not to run into each other she uses a variety of resists: wax, gutta, and sizing and then setting the dyes by steaming. This process allows for greater freedom in using many luscious colors.

Jan Herman

Artist Jan Herman, creates framed art using thread painting, aka. freestyle machine embroidery to create detail over my original sketches of birds and tropical or western landscapes. Her focus is new materials and concepts to push the boundaries of art working with a variety of fabrics, using a sewing machine to create images by applying thread and moving the fabric under the needle. It is as if she, previously a watercolorist, clamped a brush in a vice and chose to move the canvas to apply the medium. #fiberart #artist#thread #gallery #Fiberartsgalleryshow

Marianna Ross

See vibrant silks created by Marianna Ross. Early exposure to the lush colors in her parents' California gardens underlies her love of Nature's strength and beauty now found in the Florida landscape. Botanicals, gardens, forests, and irregular tree forms of the Southeast combine with emerging/hidden figures in her transparent watercolor paintings and luminous colors of dyes on silk.
