Internship

Unpaid internships for college students, recent graduates, and graduate students are available throughout the year on a full or part-time basis. Opportunities may last two months or longer. Academic credit may be arranged for interns at their school's discretion.

Applicants should follow the standard application procedure. Letters or essays should describe specific areas of interest within the Center, precise dates for the proposed internship, and number of hours per week the applicant is able to work. Applications should be made at least 6 weeks prior to the proposed starting date

Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in serving as a Leesburg Center for the Arts volunteer.  We welcome students who require service hours for school, and community members who have an interest in sharing their love of art with others. Following is a list of volunteer opportunities at The Center. We will meet with you to assess your interests and match them with our needs. You will then receive specific details and training for the areas in which you will serve.

Volunteer application

Mobile Art Studio Assistant:

1st and 3rd Monday 4 p.m.-6 p.m. and 2nd and 4th Saturday 12 p.m.-2p.m.

Assist instructors in the classes.

Leesburg Arts Festival 2019:

Saturday, March 9th & Sunday, March 10th 9:30 am-4:30 pm daily
Assist artists that have booths, help instructors with demos for the public, help instructor at the kids booth and making art projects

Summer Camp Assistant

Monday-Friday 9a.m.-noon daily in June 2019
Assist instructors in the classes

Special Events Crew:

greeting guests, taking admission fees, serving food and beverage, taking surveys


Guest Services/Receptionist:

answering incoming calls, directing visitors through galleries and to studios, monitoring guest activity in the galleries and, taking surveys

Office Assistant:

data processing, letter campaigns, filing

Opening Reception Crew:

greeting guests, taking admission fees, taking surveys, serving food and beverages.

 
INTERN POSITIONS FOR MARKETING

PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR

Position:

  • Brainstorms and collaborates with Executive Director and execution

  • Compose effective press releases

  • Photograph event and people, recording names, upload to social media, store files on dropbox

  • Assist in delivery of public relations when needed

  • Interviewing for quotes

  • Scheduling best time for communication delivery

RequirementsAttention to detail, keen writing abilities (grammar, spelling, style), knowledge of local media outlets, enthusiasm and creativity, a self-starter who enjoys collaborating with others.

SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR

Position:   

  • Brainstorm with Executive Director and Program Coordinator on strategy

  • Composes effective entries for social media

  • Builds audience on existing platforms and explore new platforms

  • Compose reports of insights and trending in easy-to-understand formats

  • Suggest and/or implement improvements to platform interface

  • Post blog/advertorial or article entries from editor/writers/instructors/staff

  • Photograph events and people, record names, upload to social media, store files on dropbox

  • Assist in delivery of public relations when needed

  • Solicits entries from faculty and encourages participation on sites from existing and potential students/donors

  • Finds ways to go viral with exceptional entries by distributing to people/groups with large networks (influencers)

RequirementsAttention to detail, a good eye for composition and light with photography, familiarity with major social network and/or willingness to learn more about them, enthusiasm and creativity, a self-starter, who enjoys collaborating with others.

MULTIMEDIA ASSISTANT

Position:

  • Brainstorm on content with Executive Director and Program Coordinator for shows in presentation software such as Powerpoint and :30 videos for the website and social media

  • Create storyboards

  • Film, edit videos

  • Create presentations by collecting images and compiling.

  • Follows director to ensure brand standards for the Center

Requirements: Ability to shoot and edit video

COPYWRITER/EDITOR

  •     Writes effective copy for ads, advertorial, press releases, flyer, posters

  •     Writes and/or edits and proofs copy

  •     Writes copy for email blasts, splash pages

  •     Writes educational copy to be distributed on Linkedin, trade bulletin boards and print publications

Requirements: Attention to detail, excellent use of written English language, willingness to collaborate with others and follow direction. MS word, online posting experience a plus.

GALLERY SERVICES INTERN DESCRIPTION

The Gallery Services internship is geared towards third and fourth-year college students and graduate students, working on relevant degrees, who have a passion for the arts. It is a training program that provides hands-on experience in all aspects of gallery management. Interns work with gallery staff in art objects management, curating, education, exhibition design and preparation, customer service relations, event planning, volunteer services and general administration.

  • An essay or cover letter (maximum 500 words) describing your career goals, interest in performing arts work, and reasons for applying

After an initial review of the applications, a small number of students will be invited for an interview at the Center. Applicants will not be accepted without a personal interview. Interviews for volunteer positions are conducted throughout the year.
